Bamboo?Membrane Inspired Multilevel Ultrafast Interlayer Ion Transport for Superior Volumetric Energy Storage

Interlayer transport of charges and carriers 2D nanomaterials is a critical parameter that governs the material device performance in energy storage applications. Inspired by multilevel natural bamboo-membrane with ultrafast water electrolyte properties to support its super-rapid growth rate, 2D–2D heterostructured graphene-based membranes tailored gradient interlayer channels are rationally designed for achieving ion transport. The bioinspired possess spacing distributions, where closely packed layers sub-nanosized space provide confined transport, while loosely stacked outer consisting open large distances up few micrometres favorable rapid wetting penetration liquid electrolytes. combination advantages large-size nanosized offers permeation devices superior volumetric capacity as free-standing electrodes rechargeable batteries.
